Segis Ramirez is one of those
rare artists who fuses volume with wit. His voice
evokes a sense of mystery while his words combine
romanticism and awareness. At the same time, his
compositions reflect a flair for subtle electricity
that is able to soothe the listener.
Born in Houston but raised in
Brownsville, Ramirez was exposed to a variety of
different cultures and musics. From the traditional
cojunto sounds of South Texas to the contemporary
rock sounds on the radio, music had always been a
part of his life.
When it came time to get serious
about performing and composing, he headed north to
Dallas and eventually ended up in the "Live Music
Capital of the World", Austin, TX. Segis spent the
majority of the new millennium in the psychedelic
rock band, Picasso's Radio and played shows all over
Texas. Picasso's Radio called it quits in Spring of
2004 but Ramirez still pursues his love of music by
playing live acoustically and working on ideas for
his next project.
